sometimes

I suck at life. No really.

For instance, before Christmas I was trying to do all my packing and I put in a load of laundry - only to remember that load this morning. This happens every. single. time. I always wash at least one batch twice because I forget about it until it's sour and smelly. (side note & hypothetical situation: say I did this to a bunch of towels. say more than once. say that these towels maintained a bit of the funk factor even after dozens of washes where the operator obediently put them into the dryer minutes after the washing stopped. How does one remove that last bit of funk?)

Or when we went to the Mesa Temple lights with our friends the Rykerts who were visiting from Utah. I did a great job of remembering the camera (something I always forget) but somehow I forgot the memory card. We got a total of 4 pictures. Go Me!

I am also the queen of good intentions - like buying produce to eat all healthy-like. it always goes bad. If you looked in my fridge and kitchen right now you would find bad clementines, peppers, basil, tomatoes, broccoli, and the list goes on. How can I get myself to not 'save for the perfect dish' but use them before I just end up throwing them away!!?

I have tons of additional examples but can't think of them...

Am I alone is sucking at this kind of stuff?

no you are not alone. In your hypothetical situation (not that i've done it myself) but I heard from lets call it "the great wind" that if you soak your towels in a cup of white vinegar for 1/2 hour, it will help getting the stank out.

I second the vinegar. However, I don't soak, I just throw it in instead of detergent but I'm sure soaking is nice too.

Speaking of that, I have a batch in the washer that needs to be smelled and transfered if not too stale. So you're not alone!

You are so not alone- I also suck at life! Sometimes I even re-wash a load because it sat in the dryer too long and all of Joseph's shirts are wrinkly and I don't want to iron them. Lazy? I think so! Glad to know that I'm not the only one who does things like that. I love your honesty on here :)

You have really had a load of clothes in the washer since before christmas? You must have a lot of clothes to wear if you only need to do laundry once a month.

use 20 mule borax to get smells out. it works on stinky boy B.O. from dirty gym clothes that were taken off all sweaty and left in a pile in the corner of the room with a damp towel on them. you buy it in the laundry aisle pt the store. it's pretty cheap. i put some in every batch of laundry i do. it will even get the moldy spots out. i had left a batch of towels in and for over a week couldn't figure out where the smell was comming from in the house until i went to do laundry and found the towels.

As for your groceries. Plan out your dinners for the week then go grocery shopping on Saturday for the upcoming week. Only buy what you need for your dinners and having it organized will help you to only buy necesarry ingredients as well as not have things go to waste.

To make you feel better {or not} it only gets worse with children which exponentially increases the good "intentions".... to offset the stinkyness of mildew clothes I overfill the fabric softner...some clothes never smell the same- I would check for actual mildew on the laundry if it sat that long....and just so you know, my fridge looks the same way- yikes!! but fruits and veggies look so beautiful at the grocery store, not too mention it looks bad if you only put junk food in your cart....

Thank you for all the tips! I washed some towels with the vinegar so we'll see if it did the trick!

@Jen ha no I didn't leave laundry in the washer for over a month! it was just overnight WHILE I was packing for Christmas.

@Haley excellent tip. I use to do that and Fred said that was actually his favorite because we didn't play the 'what's for dinner' game each night.

ha.. i was going to ask if you left the load in the laundry OVER a month as well.

i hate that funk. i hate paying two dollars per load of laundry. i shove that stupid machine chuck full and then have crappy results.

i suck at those things too. don't fret lady. :)

I hate when that happens to me! It's usually while I'm trying to do twenty other things at the same time. I'll have to remember the vinegar tip for next time!

I put pine-sol in every load of laundry I do, it totally helps with the nasty teenage boy BO, that never seems to wash out completely. Ugh... just wait, you have so much to look forward to!
